Fly Fishing Guide Trips and Instruction North Carolina

The fly fishing guide trips and lessons are among the most popular throughout the fly fishing season. We are fortunate to have good fishing throughout the year because our waters rarely freeze over through the season. The best times for trout fishing are spring, fall, and winter.

Late summer tends to be among the slowest season of the year for trout. Summer months are popular for smallmouth bass float trips. We offer multiple types of packages for fly fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains area of Western NC and destination packages to exotic locations around the globe.

We have the most experienced guides in the area and are the only 5 Star guide service listed on Google! I know all of the internet sites claim to have the best guides and service around. It can seem like all outfitters are the same to the consumer. I assure you the number of fish caught and the learning experience you come away with is unparalleled. Check out the kudos page on the drop-down menu. We would rather share with you what other folks have to say about us. My bio page also contains information on what we love about the sport of trout fishing!

Learn about Trout Fishing in the Smoky Mountains

We are the oldest permitted and legally insured outfitter in the Smoky Mountains region since 1987! Mac Brown started the delayed harvest programs in western North Carolina back in the early ’90s with the first Delayed Harvest program on the Upper Nantahala River.

He was an Associate Professor of the Fly Fishing Programs at Western Carolina University for a number of years. Many say it is through these university programs that the competition scene has skyrocketed in the region from past students.

He has helped coach Fly Fishing Team USA Youth to several World Championships, including multiple individual world champions. He is the first Master Casting Instructor in the state of North Carolina through Fly Fishers International. Angler of the Year for Field and Stream in 1999. The author of Casting Angles. This fly casting handbook will further your personal journey in the sport of fly casting.

Quality Instructional Fly Fishing Guide Trips

All of our guides want to meet your expectations for what you desire to learn on the stream. For some that may be to take in the natural beauty of the area and just enjoy the day in a beautiful setting while catching some fish. For others, they may have a goal to iron out some casting problem, rigging of flies, French nymphing, Polish nymphing, Czech nymphing, Spanish nymphing, suspender tactics (dry-dropper or indicator), advanced streamer tactics, improving your drift for dry fly fishing, and the list goes on!

Fly fishing gives back to you what you put into the sport. We love assisting folks on their journey with proven tactics that work. This benefits you on your journey of fly fishing by knowing what to practice on and off the water like a roadmap for success. We look forward to seeing you on the stream soon for your next adventure in the Smoky Mountains!

All the best, Mac
