Fly Fishing Techniques

switch-casting-lessons-fly-fishing-guide-trips.jpg

Fly fishing techniques and tactics include many facets such as wet flies, nymphs, streamers and dry flies. Retrieval methods employed, line manipulations, and active or passive presentations may apply to all of them!

Increasing your knowledge of the various fly fishing techniques will lead to instant improvement for the fly angler! Fly fishing technique is most easily understood by viewing the most commons techniques in the sport.

Many anglers remain content to lob an indicator a short distance because they have not sorted out their fly casting. These folks tend to look at a higher fly line weight for lobbying a few feet further rather than take a casting lesson to improve.

I refer to these folks as the combat fly fishers that are content in mediocrity. They will not improve down the road because they have no desire to do so. They will be fine having a college kid rowing them down a famous river and still look the same thirty years from now!
