Tippet study results conducted at Western Carolina University by Associate Professor Mac Brown in 1996. The materials lab at WCU was the perfect place for me to take a closer look at the monofilaments.
Huge thanks to all of the leading manufacturers for supporting the study at WCU, hence it would not have been possible without their support. Every leading brand that was available in 1996 was part of the study. I already knew from guiding a decade that the quality of mono was very inconsistent.
Many clients would have their personal tippet supply that would break when tightening their knots! The material would fail in random locations far away from the knot. This dilemma was intriguing for me personally.
The lab at WCU provided the equipment for me to take a closer look at some of these attributes!
